Howe Park Shooting Injures 4 People Shot in Arden-Arcade Sacramento

Sacramento County Sheriff's Office investigators are examining a gun violence incident that unfolded on April 18 2026 at Howe Park at the time officers were breaking up an unauthorized event of hundreds of attendees.

Background

Officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were first called to the Arden-Arcade park at approximately 6:30 PM on April 18 after being notified of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. Shortly after, additional information came in mentioning a reported physical confrontation taking place at the location.

Aerial units was sent to survey the area but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. However, it was evident that an enormous crowd had packed into the park in an unauthorized manner.

How the Shooting Unfolded

Responding units set about removing people from the park by surrounding the park and announcing over their public address systems ordering the hundreds present to clear out. Nearly 15 minutes were provided for the gathering to break up.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that an estimated 20 to 25 shots cut through the air. Gunfire sent the crowd running in all directions. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies swiftly started finding those Sacramento County Sheriff shooting investigation who had been shot.

Four People Shot

When the dust settled, four individuals were discovered with shooting injuries. The four individuals — a group of one female and three male victims all reportedly in their 20s at the time of the incident — were airlifted or driven to Sacramento area hospitals. Doctors and nurses indicated that two of the four had injuries classified as immediate, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one suffered minor injuries. Thankfully, all four were in stable condition.

Sacramento fire crews arrived on scene and helped care for shooting victims before they were taken to the hospital.

Physical Evidence

The bulk of the shooting was determined to have happened near the Cottage Way corridor next to the local Home Depot on the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. Investigators recovered additional spent rounds along Cottage Way. Round impacts were noted in the iron perimeter fence near the nearby Home Depot. The physical evidence pointed to that at least one of the shooters had been discharging rounds toward the south from the Cottage Way area targeting the Home Depot. The nearby Home Depot was put under lockdown while the scene was active. CSI investigators and detectives continued working throughout the night.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Reports confirmed via scanner audio confirmed that a Kia connected to the shooting had been stopped in Solano County California. Four detainees were detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were en route to collect those detained to transport the detainees for processing in Sacramento County. Video reviewed at the scene established that two shooters had been involved.
